Kory Haywood and his staff will lead Affton Americans U16 Midget CSDHL Prospects team for the 2024-25 season. This will be Coach Haywood’s 26th year of coaching youth, high school, AAA or junior hockey in the St. Louis area. In addition to coaching various levels of youth hockey at Affton since 2001, Haywood coached the 1987 birth year AAA St. Louis Blues for two seasons. He spent seven years as Varsity Head Coach at Affton, Marquette, and Eureka High Schools between 2000 and 2008.
Haywood served as the Director of Hockey Operations for St. Louis Heartland Eagles of the United States Hockey League from 2002 to 2003. He continued coaching junior hockey with the St. Louis Junior Lightning of the Minnesota Junior Hockey League from 2006 to 2008. From 2008 through 2015, Coach Haywood was the General Manager and Head Coach of the St. Louis Frontenacs Junior Hockey team that played in the Great Lakes Junior Hockey League and the Minnesota Junior Hockey League.
Coach Haywood returned to coaching in 2018 with Seckman High School until 2020. He joined the Affton Hockey Board as Vice President of Lady Liberty Hockey and joined the Missouri Hockey Girls Committee focused on growing girls hockey in the St. Louis area.
Coach Haywood has coached thousands of hockey players with various teams and camps for the past 26 years and many have gone on to play junior, collegiate or professional hockey. He is looking forward to beginning a new challenge coaching at the CSDHL Midget Prospect level.
Coach Haywood and his wife, Tricia, live in Columbia, Illinois with daughters Eva, Poppy and Mikayla, and son Turner. They have too many kids to have a dog.
