Affton’s 8U ADM program closely follows the guidelines set forth by USA Hockey’s American Development Model (ADM). Our objectives include nurturing a love of the game at an early age and emphasizing fundamentals including skating, stick handling, passing, and shooting. Station-based practices are utilized to maximize learning and to capture the attention fo our young boys and girls.

Players are evaluated and assigned to skill-appropriate teams. Games are played on a half-ice rink against other local organizations. Teams also participate in local weekend tournaments called Jamborees with other local youth hockey organizations.

The 8U ADM season includes:

• 36 practice ice touches (weekday and weekend ice)
• 18 game ice touches
• 4 Jamboree tournaments (4 games or 2 hours per Jamboree, all local)
• Game jersey and socks

ADM is offered as part of Affton’s Fall/Winter session starting in August and continuing through March.
