Learn-To-Play
Learn to Play is run by our highly experienced LTP staff and introduces girls to the sport of ice hockey in a fun, non-competitive program. No skating instruction is necessary to participate in Learn to Play.
6U ADM
Excellent program that follows the guidelines set forth by USA Hockey’s American Development Model (ADM). Our objectives include nurturing a love of the game at an early age and emphasizing fundamentals.
8U ADM
Excellent program that follows the guidelines set forth by USA Hockey’s American Development Model (ADM). Our objectives include nurturing a love of the game at an early age and emphasizing fundamentals.
10U/12U House
House Program is for 10U (Squirt) and 12U (PeeWee) players interested in playing the game in a less competitive environment. Participants are evaluated and placed on age-appropriate teams based on skill level.
10U/12U/14U Travel
Program for players interested in playing in a more competitive environment. Travel hockey teams are part of the Missouri Hockey Youth League, a competitive league that is tiered for age and skill level.
Travel Midget AA
Affton's Travel Hockey Program is for players interested in playing in a more competitive environment with other local organizations as well as a few out-of-town tournaments.
Central States
This program offers players the opportunity to compete against the best youth hockey teams in the Midwest, skilled coaching, and extra practices and games.
St. Louis Jr. Blues
Tier III Junior A ice hockey team in the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL). Every season the team features players from around the United States and Europe.
6U (Mini Mite) - Ages 5 and 6
Learn to Play is run by our highly experienced LTP staff and introduces kids to the sport of ice hockey in a fun, non-competitive program. No skating instruction is necessary to participate in Learn to Play. Our certified, on-ice coaches help kids learn the basics of hockey, including skating, stick handling, passing, and shooting skills. Additionally, more experienced players from Affton teams volunteer their time to help the children learn and have fun. LTP is open to kids of all ages, but participants typically range in age from 3 to 12 years old.
Affton offers rental equipment for Learn to Play participants so players can try hockey without the financial commitment of purchasing equipment. Families pay a small deposit that is returned to them when the gear is returned to us. All participants also receive a jersey.
LTP participants skate every Sunday afternoon from October to March, with the exception of some holidays, for a total of 20 weekends.
Rental equipment is available for Learn to Play participants. Rental equipment is free, but a deposit of $150 is required. The check will not be cashed unless the rental equipment is not returned by the designated return date. The check will be shredded unless other arrangements are made.

Skates (Affton has some skates that may be included in rental but does not guarantee all participants will receive skates.)

Affton’s 6U ADM program closely follows the guidelines set forth by USA Hockey’s American Development Model (ADM). Our objectives include nurturing a love of the game at an early age and emphasizing fundamentals including skating, stick handling, passing, and shooting. Station-based practices are utilized to maximize learning and to capture the attention of our young boys and girls.
Players are evaluated and assigned to skill-appropriate teams. Games are played on a cross-ice rink against other local organizations. Teams also participate in local weekend tournaments called Jamborees with other local youth hockey organizations.
The 6U ADM season includes:
- 24 practice ice touches
- 10 game ice touches
- 4 Jamboree tournaments (4 games or 2 hours per Jamboree, all local)
- Game jersey and socks
ADM is offered as part of Affton’s Fall/Winter session starting in August and continuing through March.
